The MSC Group supports Mercy Ships to bring hope and healing to thousands of people without access to safe, modern healthcare and surgery through its hospital ships, with a special focus on Africa. The MSC Group provides Mercy Ships with logistical support and the container delivery of supplies to all its ports of service, while the MSC Foundation provides direct funding.
In 2024, the MSC Foundation and MSC Group concluded a groundbreaking agreement with Mercy Ships to support the construction of a brand-new hospital ship that will deliver free surgery and training to thousands of people in Africa. In addition, MSC has provided extensive technical advice for the new vessel, working with Mercy Ships to develop a design that meets the organisation’s needs with new levels of efficiency.
Results: 18,000 medical professionals and community leaders trained. 30,300 patients of all ages received 33,200 surgeries.
