In June 2019, MSC Foundation launched and supported Anch’io Per Genova, an extensive fundraising campaign to create a sea park – the Parco del Mare – in Genoa, with the aim of regenerating the area struck by the collapse of the Morandi Bridge on 14th August 2018.
In Genoa, MSC Foundation and our local partners are intensively engaged in an important initiative for the city and Italy, creating the Parco del Mare, an innovative 9,000 square metre sea park from which the Genoese can once again look to the future with hope.
The MSC Foundation has partnered with Genoa City Council, Liguria Regional Council, Genova nel Cuore and Helpcode to create an innovative sea park designed by Renzo Piano. The Parco del Mare will feature unique amenities, including recreational and sports equipment made from ecological and recycled materials. Dedicated to leisure and sport, the park will also have a special focus on educating children and young people about the sea and environmental protection thanks to the involvement of Marevivo. The park will also foster social integration, involving local schools through Helpcode.
