“Everybody Loves the Sea”: MSC Foundation and Antoniano di Bologna launch a new anthem for ocean literacy performed by the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano
Debut performance at a holiday concert onboard MSC World Europa captivates nearly 1,000 attendees, including local families and children
The MSC Foundation was thrilled yesterday to launch the new song titled "Everybody Loves the Sea" through a first live performance by the renowned Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano, directed by Sabrina Simoni, at a Christmas concert in Genoa on board MSC World Europa. The MSC World Theatre was at full capacity, with almost 1,000 attending the concert, including families & kids from the Genoa community and cruise guests from around the world. On board and ashore guests were welcomed by Captain Stefano Battinelli and Daniela Picco, Executive Director of the MSC Foundation.
“As the Foundation of MSC Group, we have a unique opportunity to reach out to a global audience on board MSC Cruises ships. With music's universal language, we aim to inspire children to love and care for our oceans - ‘Everybody Loves the Sea’ is a joyful song that reflects the Piccolo Coro dell’Antoniano and the MSC Foundation’s shared commitment to nurturing young minds to cherish and safeguard their planet’s precious marine treasures,” said Daniela Picco, Executive Director of the MSC Foundation.
The MSC Group started collaborating with Antoniano di Bologna eleven years ago to create unforgettable original compositions dedicated to the young audiences on board MSC cruises, including the mascot theme song “Doremi Dance” and “Doremi Cartoon”. The concert was hosted by Matteo Mancini, MSC Cruise Division Senior Manager Family Entertainment, who guided the children playfully through a delightful musical journey featuring the new MSC Foundation Day anthem "Everybody Loves the Sea", the MSC for UNICEF original song "I Can Believe," a medley of the choir's most iconic songs alongside beloved Christmas classics.
“The beauty of Christmas is also that of being with those who walk alongside us in projects in which we believe. With MSC Foundation we worked on a beautiful song, ‘Everybody Loves the Sea’, performed by the Piccolo Coro dell'Antoniano directed by Sabrina Simoni, which tells us how important it is to respect the sea and the environment. We sang it together, among other Christmas songs, on the occasion of the concert on board the MSC World Europa, an event of music and joy in which we participated with pleasure and which allowed us to be together with many families and children, to prepare for Christmas,” said Giampaolo Cavalli, Director of the Antoniano.
This song has become the highlight of the MSC Foundation Day parade on all ships of the Cruise Division of the MSC Group, playing a central role in educating and engaging kids and teens on the importance of caring for the ocean. The MSC Foundation Day a collaboration with the Family Entertainment team of MSC Cruises. Every MSC Cruises voyage features an MSC Foundation Day. This year, over 100,000 children and young people participated in interactive activities like sea watching, drawing, games, and video quizzes developed with our partners, gaining awareness about marine conservation, recycling, education, and health.
“We create entertainment for the new generation, recognising the strong interest children and teenagers have in their future, as well as an awareness of the impactful projects carried out by the MSC Foundation each year. The new song is not just a form of entertainment; it carries a positive message and serves as a catalyst for the other activities we organise on board. Every year, over 100,000 young people take part in these activities, aimed at demonstrating our commitment to fostering a love for the seas and a deep care for their future,“ said Matteo Mancini, MSC Cruise Division Senior Manager Family Entertainment.
